Corporate Background of FAT

Establishment
Established in 1957 by Mr. Hu Tung-Ching, with a capital around NT$600000 and 30 employees, Far Eastern Air Transport is the first private air transport company completely run by Taiwanese people. At the early stage, the business categories of newspaper transportation, domestic and international charter flights, aerial measure photography, forest protection,air-sea rescue, oil drill support, etc. were included. Moreover, maintenance for aircraft and helicopters from military,Civil Aviation Bureau, and provincial government were also accepted. Thus, a lot of complete maintenance experience has been accumulated.

Route
The very first route, between Taipei and Kaohsiung, was inaugurated in 1962, and eight other domestic routes were added later on. FAT became the most acknowledged airlines which provide more than a hundred domestic daily flights commute major cities in Taiwan. Still, it was the company's strategy to increase the market share of international airline transportation and acquired the authority of the Civil Aviation Bureau on 1993 to develop international network. The international routes such as Palau, Subic bay, etc. were inaugurated on 1995. Up to mid-2000, the company has gone into the Asian-Pacific rim, gaining wider flying areas inside the region. FAT's wings have already extended to destinations in Thailand, Philippine, Malaysia, Palau, Indonesia, and Korea.

Staff & Organization
The success of the development was contributed to a brand new organization and sophisticated management team. In 1995, a re-organization brought in new investors and attracted more professionals to join the ranks of FAT. The major investors including China Development Industrial Bank, AIG-Asian Infrastructure Investment Development Co., Ltd., and so on. These shareholders enable the company to stand on an even stronger and more competitive footing to better serve customers, and take full advantage of the growth opportunities present in the Pacific rim, the company went into stock market on 1997 thereafter. Meanwhile.the outstanding maintenance capability obtained recognition of ISO 9002 since 1996,and was honorably certified by FAA on 2001.
It is the hardworking and esprit de corps of the staff, thriving on the idea of "Customers First, Safety Supreme", that bear the fruit of FAT's many years of growth and prosperity. Year to date, there are 1,230 employees. Among the staff, there are 300-odd traffic, 200-odd in-flight service, and 300-odd maintenance people, altogether to provide the best service to the travelling public.
It is also FAT's mission to provide and maintain an outstanding and consistent service quality to customers in a long run. The continuous strengthened training programs for flight service and maintenance personnel will upgrade our operation. Our flights will only be safer, swifter, and more comfortable.
